5 Tips for Life from Savvy Auntie Melanie Notkin

by maya on September 10, 2008

I discovered Savvy Auntie Melanie Notkin (owner, founder of SavvyAuntie.com) recently, when her baby SavvyAuntie.com was released in beta. I would be lying if did not admit that my initial reaction to her was total awe and disbelief. It was amazing to see that a seemingly harmless and very modest young woman had gotten this far by simple following her dream and working very very hard. I truly admire her for her simplicity, courage (she had put in her savings for SavvyAuntie.com ) and passion for her business.

And then she writes this post on her blog. She calls the post her tips for entrepreneurial students, but I think these tips are for everyone. For life. For career. Go check it out.

I have always strongly believed in being nice to people and helping wherever I can. Being nice and helping people truly make me truly happy - give me a sense of accomplishment deep inside. Over the years I have discovered that it comes back around in the most unexpected ways and at the neediest of times. Unknowingly, it has helped me build a family right here in the US, far far away from the home I left years ago. I am a true believer in the fact that every single person has something to offer to the world and people around him, so I tend to be amazing intolerant of people who feel unnecessarily entitled and/or flaunt their egos.

For me, Melanie and her post are the ultimate confirmation of my belief that “good people can be truly successful”. All the best to you Melanie!!

I started my blog very recently and it has been wonderful to see a comment - you are my first, you made me smile and you will be remembered and visited often :).
And thank you for trying to change those difficult people!

I totally agree with you. I always think to myself 'difficult people have a reason for behaving the way they do and maybe, maybe just a little kindness and a smile will make them change their thinking'. Of course it doesn't always work, but like you said, it makes me feel a whole lot better!
Visiting from Dave Fowler's and had to stop by because one of my best friend's daughters is called Maya!
